I hit up the Forever 16 demoparty in Horn\u00e1 S\u00fa\u010da and entered two 1k intros: pow(quickhack,2)<\/i> and back to the cyberspace<\/i>. I knocked out Quickhack^2<\/i> about a week before, but back to the cyberspace<\/i> was finished right there at the party. Funny story (well, typical me): the version shown during the compo wasn’t even the final one because I didn’t double-check which file XI grabbed off my thumb drive. So, the version on the big screen had different music and a bunch of glitches that I\u2019d actually already fixed in the final build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

pow(quickhack,2)<\/i> uses Eru\u2019s fast line-draw routine that I found in an AtariAge thread. I was just testing it out when I spotted a small bug. I actually had to tweak the demo Eru bundled with it just to confirm the bug was there, and once I fixed it, I figured I\u2019d add some effects and turn it into a 1k entry for the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the cyberspace<\/i> was just a random idea I had on Wednesday. I drew the rocket late that night, added the bit-packed parallax effect the next evening, and got the music routine ready on Friday. By Saturday, I\u2019d composed the track and packed everything up… except, you know, that\u2019s the version that didn’t<\/i> actually get played. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n
