A little while back, I decided to dive into a couple of classic Atari 8-bit Polish titles that never originally received official English releases: Incydent (ASF 1993) and Magia Kryształu (ASF 1992). I’m happy to announce that English translations for both games are now available!
Here is a quick look behind the scenes at how these translation patches came together, along with links to grab the .xex files and source code.
1. Incydent
Translating Incydent was an interesting journey. The patch was built using Homesoft’s version from Diskette 186 as the baseline, which already had the original game’s anti-copy protections removed.
To pull off the translation, I:
- Rebuilt the text pointer tables and localized the text strings.
- Redrew the completion percentage graphic in the HUD.
- Fixed a VBI zero-page write issue that was causing title screen texts to glitch whenever picking up the chewing gum item.

Note on original mechanics: There is a minor original bug near the wrench object where walking through the door edge can cause you to get stuck inside the closed door frame. This exists in the original game binary and isn’t a bug introduced by the translation!

2. Magia Kryształu (Magic of the crystal)
Following requests on the AtariAge thread, I tackled Magia Kryształu next! This action-adventure game features mechanics like shape-shifting into a bird or turtle to navigate the world and enter the castle.

Since game paths can be punishing and items are easy to miss, testing involved quite a few runs to ensure text pointers and layout alignments fit cleanly across all scenes.

Feel free to try both releases out on real hardware or your favorite Atari emulator! If you run into any remaining text issues or feedback, let me know in the comments or over on the AtariAge thread.
