So it is August 2018 and deadline of ABBUC SWC has passed.

This year it was about creating new game (I still have some shelved projects, but it is hard to force myself to finish them) … originally I thought I will create something quick and simple within a day (logical game), but then I decided to go for jump&run … or better jump&jump style.

Hey fellow Atarians!

Citron 3kg took 6th place at Abbuc Software Contest 2017.

I created this game in several hours. It was again result of quick coding challenge similar to 3plex or Xirius Defect. This game is 100% NTSC compatible and it does not require any HW extension to stock Atari 800 XL/XE machine.

  • Use your highly modified vehicle to gather as many citrons as possible
  • Press Fire to jump over mines if you wanna live
  • Also do not get knocked down by nasty attacking flying saucer
  • Stay alive as long as possible
  • Once the countdown reaches zero, new level begins….

Skyscraper took 4th place in this year’s Abbuc Software Contest. I have created gameplay video that shows the overall game progress. It is cut into almost 3 minutes, but actual gameplay was around 18 minutes.

Announcement – Skyscraper

It’s been a while since my last post. I have an announcement to make: Skyscraper is almost finished and I plan to submit it to upcoming Abbuc SW Contest 2016.

There were two Work-In-Progress videos released near the end of last year. I granted myself quite big pause in the development. Then spent couple hours adding title screen during spring (as far as I remember) and last two days were quite productive since I sat behind my PC and finished gameplay.

3plex – final version

Currently I am working on Final version of 3plex was build on September 13th, so game is ready to be released. Most of implemented changes extend visual/audio experience, game design remains same. I am preparing some new stuff that will enrich the game. I am going to update this blogpost couple times with additional texts and screens.

Tento post je len v angličtine, nechce sa mi to prekladať…

How to code Atari XL/XE game in 500 minutes? -not just another stupid marketing! This time I have proof… the timelapse video! This year’s Abbuc SW contest is a bit special, because deadline for compo entries was 31st of July instead of 31st of August as usual, but I handled it somehow similarly as before… I started working on my entry day before deadline.

Another fun with Abbuc Compo – Nemezyro (slovensky)

Few days ago I started working on new game called Nemezyro, which (as usual) contains some significant features/technologies which I never used before.

So what is Nemezyro about?

It is relaxing logical game which requires fast responses. There are randomly generated colored tiles scrolling from right to left and player’s job is to eliminate those tiles as long as possible until they reach left border of playfield. Tiles are eliminated by pointing at them with cursor controlled using joystick and pressing fire. All adjacent tiles of same color are eliminated as well. There is one special feature when we speak about adjacent tiles, because also first and last line of tiles are adjacent to each other – this fact sometimes causes that you might think those tiles are eliminated without your action :).

Playing with AssembloidsXE

After Abbuc 2013 games were released, new post about highscore was created at AtariAge HighScoreClub (HSC). Several Atarians posted their score with screenshots, but MaPa posted quite high score from AssebloidsXE. When most of players could not get 5000 points, MaPa got more than 38000. That is pretty sick score, so I decided to break this record.

Another year, another Abbuc Software Contest entry. This time it is logical game called Xirius Defect which development was described in my previous post. Game took potato medal (4th place) at Abbuc Software Contest 2013. Quite surprising result, it really made my day :).
